On this year’s International Volunteer Day, the BELLS Initiative made a remarkable impact by organizing a health awareness outreach in Woru Community, combining efforts for both health and economic development. The event united volunteers and community members in a day filled with learning, support, and wellness.

As part of the initiative, volunteers provided free health screenings, delivered informative workshops on nutrition and wellness, and shared resources aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles. The outreach also focused on economic and social development, offering guidance on entrepreneurship and sustainable practices to help residents improve their livelihoods.

“Today is a celebration of volunteerism and community spirit,” said Owafunke Balogun, the BELLS Initiative project manager. “We are not only addressing health issues but also fostering economic growth and social cohesion among residents. Together, we can build a healthier and more prosperous future.”

The event drew participation from various local organizations and health professionals, who teamed up with volunteers to provide valuable insights into both health and economic empowerment. Workshops included topics such as understanding the importance of nutrition for overall well-being.

Community members expressed their gratitude for the support and knowledge gained during the outreach. “This event has opened our eyes to new opportunities,” said local resident Amina Bello. “We’ve learned how to take better care of our health and how to improve our diets.”

International Volunteer Day serves as a reminder of the invaluable contributions of volunteers worldwide. The BELLS Initiative’s outreach in Woru Community exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing pressing health and economic challenges, inspiring hope and resilience within the community.
